Wowza! August Already? (and a melting pot of random)

This is the month I've been dreading...why? Simply because it's usually the hottest month in Florida and it's already been nearing the high 90's all through July! I think the worst part about it is how humid it is. Every time I get out of my car or leave my apartment my glasses fog up!

But alas, I know it's hot pretty much everywhere right now, so I'll just hop on the "grin and bear it" bandwagon like everyone else!

How are you beating the heat? Or attempting to beat the heat...

In case you missed my uber busy Saturday recap post...you can find it here!

So I saw the cutest photo of Kelly Osbourne while on Pinterest. I already have short-ish hair (it usually stays around chin length) but when I saw this photo I thought...how friggin' cute is her hair? And...I wonder if I can pull that off?

What do you think of the cut? It screams..."look at me" and "my goodness it's hot outside!"

The question is...do I want my hair to scream look at me?

Are there any "I wanna try that" hair styles/colors on your wish list?

Now, it's August 1st, which means in approximately in 11 days I will be (or should be) closing on my first home. Which means...my days are becoming more and more consumed with the dreaded packing...

I wish I could say that I was further along on packing...but I'm not. So far my crafting supplies (excluding my sewing machine/thread/polyfil/fleece...I need to make the pet bed for the giveaway winner!) and my bookshelf. Those two things have already taken up about 6 boxes! Yikes!

Needless to say, lots more packing is in my very near future!

  1. So happy again about your new house! Woohoo! Packing is annoying but it will be all worth it when you get to unpack in a place that's all yours! :)

Ugh, I am hoping August is a bit friendlier to us up here in Maryland. July was like a constant sauna. But at least we always know that cooler weather will inevitably get here... eventually :) Happy Monday!

  2. UGH Packing! Did you get a new banner for your blog? love it!

I love Kelly Osborne because even though she is in the spot light she always says it how it is.

  3. @Hazel - it's so strange that states like MD are sweltering like FL...usually it's not SO many states that have the heat wave!

@Erika - Yep, I designed the banner over the weekend. Thanks! :)

  4. first of all - i had lasik surgery in april 2010 and it was the best thing ever. i remember my glasses fogging up and it drove me bonkers! second, the heat is the heat and i stay indoors! i totally think you should try the haircut...i love it. my hair is curly so i could never do that. it would be a mess!

  6. @Collins - now you know because you said to try the haircut that I can place the blame on you if it's awful :p My next hair appt isn't until...a month or so...this will for sure stay on my list to try and quite possibly I will in fact do it! :)

  7. Ugh... here I am, I've been growing my hair out for a while and this is the ump-teenth time in the past week that people have blogged/talked about cutting their hair short or I've seen some short hair cuts that I love. But no, I'm not going to do it. I'm going to keep growing it out but I'm taking notes because when I do get ready to cut my hair, I'll have lots of cool looks to choose from.

My vote... go for it. ;)

    PS - Stay cool... :)

  8. @Regina - It's the hair curse. When it's short I want it long...when it's long I want it short...because I always see a cut that's just so cute. Good luck with continuing to grow you hair out! I'm growing out my bangs now and it's taking forever!

  9. You have a busy time ahead with moving. And how nice to look forward to a new house! Yes, I think that is a cute haircut and you should try it. If you don't like it, it grows back quickly.

Like the banner. Think it's time to update mine. I'm getting tired of it.

  10. It finally cooled off a bit today (still in the 80's) and it was amazing! I could actually feel a breeze coming up from the water. And I feel you on the packing. I just moved almost two months ago and am STILL adjusting and unpacking some things. I left the original packing to the VERY last minute. Woops!! :P And..... I think the hair cut is amazing! Definitely a "look at me" cut but not too outrageous or crazy. I definitely think you could pull it off. It is verrrrry cute.

  11. I wish I could pull off geek-chic glasses! So cute.

And I hear you on the hot weather! It's supposed to be 105-107 degrees all week! Ugh! I'm dying lol

    :)

  12. @Sher - Thanks! I had been wanting to really get my banner looking how I had wanted it to look in the first place and I finally took the time to do it! Good luck if you end up working on yours...it can be so darn tedious!
@Cas - Packing is my nemesis at the moment...I too am being a bit of a procrastinator...it'll come back and bite me in the butt I'm sure! And I am really wanting to try the hair cut but my goodness...it seems so short! I guess when it comes time for my appt I will make the final decision!

  14. Maybe you should move to Scotland. It seems to stay in the upper 60s here throughout the summer.
