NYX Cosmetics Review - New Butter Lipstick Line - Razzle, Hunk, and Mary Janes
Tuesday, January 7, 2014
So I'd like to take the opportunity to use this first paragraph to let you know the days I post will be increasing! I have a lot of things to share with you guys and three days just isn't enough! Hopefully you guys will stop by and take a look because I anticipate posting 4 to 5 times a week!
**************************************
The minute I saw the news that NYX would be releasing a new line of lipsticks this month I was counting down the days that I saw them in store! (PS - you can find them at Ulta) or you can buy them directly from NYX.
I should warn you that this post is PHOTO HEAVY. I wanted to provide the types of photos that I look for when looking for reviews which means there are a lot of them. There is info throughout so make sure to at least skim the photos so you can see the descriptions.
The goods.

Razzle -
Worn WITHOUT primer
Like any good cream this goes on very very smooth. It does require a few good swipes across the lips to build up to a bolder color. It's vivid but not overly bright.
Wear after THREE hours of application
As you can see the creaminess starts to be less apparent.
Slight color fade.
Wear after FIVE hours of application.
The creaminess aka "butter" is gone. The remaining color has more or less just stained my lips.
I found it somewhat drying relatively quickly.
Hunk
Worn WITH primer
Unfortunately...if you are an avid lip primer user they don't work well with this line.
There is far too much moisture if you use this cream lipstick and a primer.
It took an INSANE amount of application to even get this as dark as I did and it's still faint.
Wear after 3 hours of application
Still VERY creamy with slight fading.
******
Where primer makes the longevity of the lipstick better and the creaminess...better...it just doesn't have the pop of color it's meant to unless you wear it sans primer.
******
Here is one photo without primer so you can see how much darker it is without primer. It still required a little build up but not like it does when worn with primer.
Mary Janes
Worn WITHOUT primer
I decided to just share photos of Mary Jane without primer since I realized how useless primer is with this line.
Wear after ONE hour of application.
Still somewhat creamy and slight color fade but after just an hour it's more fading than I'm used to.

In conclusion -
Out of all the NYX line of lipsticks this is my least favorite.
Don't get me wrong I don't dislike these. They are great for what they are. I just prefer a more pigmented and bold lip color. I also prefer lipsticks that don't take much build up and can easily be worn with primer without much color change and need for excessive build up of the lipstick.
Now when I'm looking for a more low key lipstick that I don't need to last for ages I may reach for these.
Honestly I feel like these lipsticks really do moisturize but it's almost like the moisture absorbs into the lips which makes the color and butter like texture not last as long. If you don't mind reapplying every few hours to get the pop of color back then these really are great lipsticks!
It all depends on what you're looking for.
I'm happy I snagged these three to add to my always growing lipstick collection.
Because sometimes I suppose need something other than a matte lipstick :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a What I Wore...I just need to figure out what I'm wearing!
Review - Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color - Cherry Picking
Wednesday, October 9, 2013
I'm back for ANOTHER review post for the week!
I'm honestly not sure if people really care about review posts but I know I love reading them and find a lot new products through blog reviews. So this post and really all review posts are just based on what I like to read. :-)
I know...I know...
I know...I know...
I felt compelled to share this with you because it's been the most impressive lip color and formula that I've used in a while. Which says a lot because I have A TON of lipsticks/glosses with me at all times. It's really quite silly to carry so many but I love options!
Exhibit A -
Exhibit A -
On a whim last weekend, while strolling the aisles of Walmart, I picked this color up along with two other brands/colors. So far this is the only one of the 3 new additions I've tried. Who knows....maybe the other two will be worth reviewing too.

If you're like me, you may be thinking, Wet n' Wild? Really?
Yes...really.
I'm going to share photos of the lipstick throughout my average day.
I'm not normally a fan of this "flat top" but it wasn't enough to deter me and I ended up being totally fine with it.
Because it's a little difficult to take the cap off you end up getting some residual lipstick on the inside. This is my only issue.
Initial application (sorry it turned out a bit blurry)
Initial application (non blurry!)
After a couple of hours and drinking from a soda can.
After lunch!
As you can see there wasn't ANY issue with feathering or "pilling" of the lipstick which is my biggest issue.
This is the lipstick with a clear gloss on the top of it.
A BIG thumbs up!
*********************************
I prefer the lipstick without the gloss addition but it all depends on how you like the matte look.
Also, I was able to rub my lips together throughout the day without them feeling incredibly dry and without any gathering of the lipstick.
This will for sure be my "go to" lipstick until I find something that has this longevity!
Random Wednesday - Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review
Wednesday, August 28, 2013
Good morning ladies!
I want to preface this post with...please forgive the poor quality photos. They were taken during my "getting ready" process so the light is awful in the bathroom and I was using my cell phone (amature move I know) rather than an actual camera.
Nonetheless, I still think I got the point across, hopefully!
No mascara
Application - Very different but not bad - You just have to get used to using a wand veritcal rather than horizontal.
After
Left - Mascara / Right - No mascara
After
After
SUPER after when I'm no longer wearing a night gown and wet hair. Also forgive my "mall bangs" I just couldn't get them NOT poofy today! Blarg.
*****************************************
In conclusion....
I think this mascara, while odd looking, works great.
It takes some (but not much) getting used to holding the "paint brush" like wand but I think you have more control over where you are placing the wand more so than when you use a basic mascara.
And...let's face it...the wand looks pretty nifty. Oh and it'll only set you back 10 bucks so I'd say it's worth it.
Will you try Avon Mega Effects? Or have you already? What do you think?
See ya Friday!
