Random Wednesday - What's In My Bag?? - So much...

Hey guys!

Have you made it to Wednesday relatively unscathed?

Today I wanted to finally jump on the bandwagon of sharing what's in my bag. As we all know...that can change on a daily basis for us ladies...so as of last night this what was in my bag!

13 items...and one item that looks literally impossible to fit inside of my bag.

*************************************************

#5 - Fun fact. If you didn't already know...I'm a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed way back when. Like way back...13 months old. So I'm quickly approaching 29 years of being a diabetic. No matter how big or small the bag...this is in it.

#6 - It goes without saying that a woman with five cats should carry a lint roller with her.
#7 - And my new official "must have" for lip stick. This beauty came in the November "Modern Beauty" Box from Julep. It's a primer and "plumper" though the plumping action wasn't relavant to me getting it. If you wear a lot of dark or bright lipstick...a primer is a must!

#4 - My little feline has a birthday this month! She'll be the ripe old age of 2...if you're signed up with petsmart and have all the birthday info for your pet/s entered they get these on their birthday month!
#3 - And that's my wallet...my absolute favorite wallet I've used so far in my 29 years. Perfect size and has room for all the nonsense I need to put in my wallet. And...it looks like a book.

#10 - I have to say a big thank you to my friend Danielle who sent me the mini emery boards. They have saved me more than once since I've had them!
#11 - Oh look...more Julep. These pair of mini lipstick trios are fantastic to grab if you need to carry lipstick and don't want to worry about the cap popping off and disaster striking. These are separate from the rest of my lipstick in case I need to grab some lipstick fast.

That's Olive...playing with item #9

#8- I keep these with me at all times. I'm actually wearing the pair that aren't in the set in the photo right now. I, at some point, during the day need my hair out of my face. These are lifesavers.
#9 - Yeah that's my stele pen. Mortal Instruments forever!

#12 - More diabetic stuff...the literal life saver when my blood sugar is low. The bottle is so large but I refuse to be without them.
#13 - The end all be all of lip balm. I used Smith's Rose Balm years and years ago and will always have a container in my purse...and by my bed.I have the "sister" rosebud salve also.

#2 - The item that baffles people when they see it in person. Yeah it fits in my bag. ONLY because the bag has these amazing side zipper pockets that are the same size as the purse itself. Any other bag I have to make sure I can fit it in the main part of the purse. Do I NEED to carry that much lipstick...hell no. But it's my perogative to do so. Hey it's a relief to know I will never not have a lipstick color I want to wear. Inside you'll find...a vintage cosmetic mirror, liners, glosses, lipstick "crayons", and regular old tube lipstick.
PS - Olive thought she'd help by keeping it grounded (a strong breeze wouldn't even budge it)

So this isn't pictured above because I was taking photos with my phone...but I thought I'd share my current case. Thanks to Groupon I snagged this mint green beauty for 10 bucks and while it's not the most adorable thing in the world...it's amazing.

#1 - The bag. A pretty standard sized bag that is undoubtedly a Mary Poppins bag. It holds all my goodies and can still hold more! I wanted the navy also but alas it was snagged up before I could use my 25% off cartwheel coupon for it at Target. :-)

Oh look. Olive again. I'm pretty sure this captures how she felt after she witnessed what all was inside of my bag.

Do you have a What's In My Bag post? Link me to it if you do! I wanna see!

Make sure to swing by tomorrow for Things I Fancy Friday.

Random Wednesday - Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review

Good morning ladies!

I want to preface this post with...please forgive the poor quality photos. They were taken during my "getting ready" process so the light is awful in the bathroom and I was using my cell phone (amature move I know) rather than an actual camera.

Nonetheless, I still think I got the point across, hopefully!

No mascara

Application - Very different but not bad - You just have to get used to using a wand veritcal rather than horizontal.

After

Left - Mascara / Right - No mascara

After

After

SUPER after when I'm no longer wearing a night gown and wet hair. Also forgive my "mall bangs" I just couldn't get them NOT poofy today! Blarg.

*****************************************

In conclusion....

I think this mascara, while odd looking, works great.

It takes some (but not much) getting used to holding the "paint brush" like wand but I think you have more control over where you are placing the wand more so than when you use a basic mascara.

And...let's face it...the wand looks pretty nifty. Oh and it'll only set you back 10 bucks so I'd say it's worth it.

Will you try Avon Mega Effects? Or have you already? What do you think?

See ya Friday!

Random Wednesday - Zumba is Kicking My Booty

I apologize for my abscense...I've been trying my damndest to get back into the routine of working out and not eating like it's my last meal...every time.

Due to this...I've been freaking exhausted when it finally comes time to sit down and relax...I pass out.

Hence no blog posts.

Has anyone else here tried Zumba, either in class or on DVD, because I feel like I am dying here!!

My goal is to be at a comfortable weight by the time October rolls around (that's when I HAVE to send in my measurements for my dress to be made) then maintain that weight until the wedding. I don't want to lose SO much I can't maintain it but I still have a good bit to go in order to comfortably fit in my own skin.

Is anyone else trying to get into shape or Get Healthy as I prefer to call it.

Please ease my pain and tell me you had a hard time getting through a Zumba DVD!!!

Below are some glimpses into my past week...

Me after my attempt at doing Day 2 of Zumba...half way through the DVD after I decided I couldn't make it any longer...

Day 1 of Zumba...I made it through the 40 minute DVD...took a shower and fell ever so NOT graceful onto the couch.

These started rolling in mid week last week...pre-Zumba...I thought these were difficult but I was wrong.

Lastly...I know the quality is HORRIBLE...but you get the general idea of how awesome my new chair is. I picked this beauty up on Saturday at Goodwill. 20 bucks...and it's Harvest Gold you guys...crushed velvet perfection.

That's it folks...so if you have any work out stories good or bad...please share!!!

Also...I'm on the Lose It app...if you are too let me know what email you are using and I'll add you!!

Talk to you soon!

Random Wednesday - My Unexpected Handsome Visitor

Hey hey everyone!!

How goes it?

Two posts in one week...maybe I really am getting back into the blogging saddle! (How weird would that saddle look...would it be découpaged with bloggy photos?)

Anywho...

On the morning of Thursday 4/5/12, I received an unexpected bit of information from my mom via email, she told me my brother Michael (the third of three brothers I have) and his youngest son Mason would be in town later that evening!! I was elated because I haven't seen my Mason in a couple of years (which makes him 4 now) but irritated because I had only taken thursday off from work! So considering all the facts...I asked my boss if I could take another vacation day and make it a long weekend to visit with them.

Fun fact - I came back to work on Monday with a whopping 240+ emails...days off are bittersweet I tell you.

Unfortunately we didn't get a lot of photos taken but here are a few of me and my main man Mason (yep he's the handsome visitor...sorry bro!) and my brother!

Take 1-

Take 2 - that darn Captain America dart gun was the main attraction!

Michael and I - *You'd think he was the resident Floridian with his tan...*

I should also mention that I was able to -

- Read Mason bed time stories
- Babysit him while the old folks retired for naps and what not
- I was his back seat companion by his request when we went anywhere
- And I got the biggest hug, hold, and cuddle before he went to sleep Saturday evening

I've always felt a connection to Mason since he was born...he's a special little buddle of non-stop wiggle worm action!

One day you may see this Mason...maybe...and I want you to know that I love you!!

Random Wednesday - Best Birthday Goodies EVER!

Hey lovelies!

Hopefully you are ready to have a little look-see at my birthday goodies that I picked up on Saturday while shopping at a local antique mall.

I tried to get all fancy like and make them into collages so it was less scattered since there are a bunch of photos!

The name of the AMAZING antique mall is - Southern Crossing Antique Mall - and it is the best place ever. Well in Jacksonville. My lovely friend Leda and I went there for the first time a month or so ago and I decided it was the "must visit" place for my birthday. Now the fiance hates shopping and hates shopping for antiques or thrifting more than anything. (Lord help me I wish I could change this but it's unlikely) But he took off the day from work for my birthday and was sweet enough to trek through the expansive square footage with me.

It's a neat place because people rent spaces of the store which are called "booths" even though there isn't any actual booths or names of people who the area belongs to. Each item is simply labeled and marked with a price and a booth number. When you check out each item is accounted for and the booth owner gets credit for the sale. Crazy and so easy. It's nice because with different vendors the pricing is so all over the place so you can find outstanding deals!

We were there for almost 2 hours...

So without further ado...

You guys...these are coasters!!! For $7.50 these had to come home with us.

The fiance bought this for me : ) An army green vintage GE radio...and it works!
$22.50

This is by far my favorite find...by far. I've been looking around online for a similar vanity mirror but this is the best of the best in my book. I saw this gorgeous aqua purse like object and when I picked it up...and opened the lock...I couldn't believe my eyes. You guys it even had the original warranty included. Mirror Go Lightly...and it works!! I've used it every day since and I love it!!
And the price...(I squealed when I found this)
$12.95
I've been looking for something to hold my ring. I bought a little ring holder from Fab and it was awful. My ring hung from the bottom of and hit the counter! When I saw this...it was love at first sight. I knew it would be perfect. Plus it makes me smile every time I life it's little lid to get my ring.
$2.95 (can you believe that price?)

Now these little babies I nabbed because they were so interesting. The scenes are on mirrors and they are so small. I can't wait to hang these. Each mirror has the Tavern Series info on the back with the info about the building etched on the mirror.
$7.00 for all four

And last but not least.

- This wilted daisy is so pretty. It has this odd iridescent look to it so it's sparkles but the colors are somewhat dull at the same time. Love.

- And the jars...I can't even wait to tell you the cost of them...
These are Avon Townhouse canisters circa 1989 and they were one of the many incentives for the Avon reps they aren't items that were sold. I am missing the Confections jar but I do have the other three! Team Room, Coffee House, and Bakery. They are so friggin' adorable.

Daisy - $2.00
Jars - $2.00 per canister. Two freaking dollars for each!!!

Long story short...I should take photos of the actual mall next time I go to share all the fabulous with you.
And I cordially invite you to come and visit me in Jacksonville, FL so we can scour the tight and jam packed nooks and crannies of the best antique mall in Jacksonville.

Talk to you soon!

Random Wednesday #26 - The Doors are Closing!

In retrospect that post title may be slightly misleading...the blog doors aren't closing...BUT today is the final day to enter the giveaway!

Kat adds new prints to her shop all the time...I find myself checking what's new all the time. PS - she's also offering a custom drawing for you or for you blog!

**********************************

Here's some other randomness for your viewing/reading pleasure.

- It is hurricane season in Florida now, well technically it starts on June 1st, but Mother Nature decided to bring it on early. It's been raining for 3 days now...not cool.

- I want to start planning a blog overhaul for it to go live in July. Unfortunately I'm scared to death to change my URL. Some people/blogs have been really seamless in the transition but I've seen others that seemingly disappear when they change their URL and I never see any updates in my dashboard. I don't want that to happen! If you have ANY tips an tricks send me an email! I'd love to pick your brain.

- Lastly...A little sneak peek of my wedding invites! I'll share everything with you once I receive them :)

- I've decided I have two Keurig coffees that I love and since I'm a creature of habit I kinda don't want any other flavors. French Vanilla Iced Coffee with Sweet Cream creamer and Chai Tea with the same creamer but also with cinnamon sugar added.

Whew! That's it I think...I hope you didn't lose patience half way through and made it all the way here!

Here's the link if you want to add your name into the hat for the giveaway

I'll see you back here Friday with the name of the winner!

Talk to you soon!

Random Wednesday #25 - Holy Crap! I'm Back :)

Man oh man! Time flies when you're not blogging. Or maybe...time just flies no matter what you're doing or not doing but you don't realize it until someone points out how much time has indeed gone by!

I know I said I'd be back on Monday, but Monday came and went with no posting, mostly because life happened. Mother's Day turned into quite the crazy day. I was planning this whole photo shoot with my mom to do a "what we wore" but that didn't pan out.

I had a slight nervous breakdown. Whoopsie.

Let's just say I'm not a big fan of change. With that being said...the fiance decided to start renovation on my closet Sunday morning at 7:30 am. All due to the fact that our evil little ginger kitty Penelope wouldn't stop scaling the garment closet I used for all my dresses/skirts. I was scared to death she'd jump off that giant thing and hurt herself! So...smash away is what he did.

BUT we still had to go to lunch at my mom's house for Mother's Day and we were knee deep in drywall, projectile nails, and disaster. I won't go into detail about what exactly I did to give myself "nervous breakdown" status but let's just say...it wasn't pretty. Lots of yelling, crying, and some throwing of things.

The good news is...

The stupid wall that was in the middle of the closet is gone!! (I forgot to close the door so you can't see all of the closet)

But I can use my entire closet now without a giant garment closet to store all my dresses. There is obviously a lot left to do. A lot. But I'm trying not to stress about it and just enjoy the fact I can use the whole closet. I plan on having a bunch of pretty and fancy like curtains that act as my "doors"...I'm over doors. Bring on the curtains!

Also...this is the mound of clothing that I purged before I put everything back in the closet. Which turned out to be a huge help...as you can see in the closet photo it's pretty packed. So this giant mass of clothing is going to be donated!

I'll make sure to post progress photos but that won't be any time soon since the fiance is in school full time and works when he's not in school or doing homework. Needless to say...it'll be awhile before I have a pretty and finished closet.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I was going to share my "review" photos of my first Birch Box order and my fourth installment of my monthly myglam box. But I think that would be excessive for one post. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. So stop by tomorrow if you want to see the goodies and read my comparison between the two monthly curated goodie bags/boxes.

Thanks for not abandoning my blog and giving up on me ever posting again! :)

Random Wednesday #24 - Wedding Woes

Okay, so this post may not be "woeful" really, I just enjoyed the alliteration.

Let's be honest...who doesn't enjoy the occassional alliteration?

Anywho, for those of you who don't know, I am engaged (as of January!) And I may not have mentioned this yet but we DO have a date set!

March 10, 2013 will be the day.

We have our venue (In the Garden at Casa Bella Village)...but that's about it. Oh and I have my invites ordered which I'll share with you when I get them!
*Just a little look at the space*

At first I thought...man we have plenty of time to get all of our wedding ducks in a row. But I fear that's not so much the case.

On the plus side, I have picked my dress, now I just have to get my measurements taken and get it ordered. Yes...I won't be trying it on first! *insert fear here*

I've never thought about all the bits and bobs that are involved in planning your OWN wedding.

Our budget is slim, and it's just me and my mom doing it all, so there's a lot of pressure there.

Luckily...it's a small wedding...so we won't require an abundance of "things" for it.

The next things we'd like to decide on is catering and the flowers. Most importantly...the flowers. The venue and my whole "vision" of the wedding is rustic/vintage and natural. Yellow and white is the color scheme. So I'm looking for flowers that are yellow and white! At first I wanted sunflowers but sadly they aren't quite in season in early March so I'm on the hunt for large or large-ish flowers that I can get in yellow and white! Here's what I'm thinking so far...

.

Mums will be my "go to" I think but I'm open to suggestions ladies!

So needless to say...we've got a lot of planning to do...but luckily we still have a good amount of time to work through the kinks.

And no...I have no idea what I want for a cake! Yikes...

Do you have any wedding websites for smaller wedding planning? I'm looking for info for "the basics" nothing that is a huge event.

I'll take any ideas/suggestions/horror stories that you want to share!

Talk to you soon!!
