NYX Cosmetics Review - New Butter Lipstick Line - Razzle, Hunk, and Mary Janes
Tuesday, January 7, 2014
So I'd like to take the opportunity to use this first paragraph to let you know the days I post will be increasing! I have a lot of things to share with you guys and three days just isn't enough! Hopefully you guys will stop by and take a look because I anticipate posting 4 to 5 times a week!
**************************************
The minute I saw the news that NYX would be releasing a new line of lipsticks this month I was counting down the days that I saw them in store! (PS - you can find them at Ulta) or you can buy them directly from NYX.
I should warn you that this post is PHOTO HEAVY. I wanted to provide the types of photos that I look for when looking for reviews which means there are a lot of them. There is info throughout so make sure to at least skim the photos so you can see the descriptions.
The goods.

Razzle -
Worn WITHOUT primer
Like any good cream this goes on very very smooth. It does require a few good swipes across the lips to build up to a bolder color. It's vivid but not overly bright.
Wear after THREE hours of application
As you can see the creaminess starts to be less apparent.
Slight color fade.
Wear after FIVE hours of application.
The creaminess aka "butter" is gone. The remaining color has more or less just stained my lips.
I found it somewhat drying relatively quickly.
Hunk
Worn WITH primer
Unfortunately...if you are an avid lip primer user they don't work well with this line.
There is far too much moisture if you use this cream lipstick and a primer.
It took an INSANE amount of application to even get this as dark as I did and it's still faint.
Wear after 3 hours of application
Still VERY creamy with slight fading.
******
Where primer makes the longevity of the lipstick better and the creaminess...better...it just doesn't have the pop of color it's meant to unless you wear it sans primer.
******
Here is one photo without primer so you can see how much darker it is without primer. It still required a little build up but not like it does when worn with primer.
Mary Janes
Worn WITHOUT primer
I decided to just share photos of Mary Jane without primer since I realized how useless primer is with this line.
Wear after ONE hour of application.
Still somewhat creamy and slight color fade but after just an hour it's more fading than I'm used to.

In conclusion -
Out of all the NYX line of lipsticks this is my least favorite.
Don't get me wrong I don't dislike these. They are great for what they are. I just prefer a more pigmented and bold lip color. I also prefer lipsticks that don't take much build up and can easily be worn with primer without much color change and need for excessive build up of the lipstick.
Now when I'm looking for a more low key lipstick that I don't need to last for ages I may reach for these.
Honestly I feel like these lipsticks really do moisturize but it's almost like the moisture absorbs into the lips which makes the color and butter like texture not last as long. If you don't mind reapplying every few hours to get the pop of color back then these really are great lipsticks!
It all depends on what you're looking for.
I'm happy I snagged these three to add to my always growing lipstick collection.
Because sometimes I suppose need something other than a matte lipstick :)

I'll be back tomorrow with a What I Wore...I just need to figure out what I'm wearing!

Hey ladies!
(And husband!)
How was your weekend?
We had such an odd weather weekend. It was rainy and freezing on Saturday and sunny and hot on Sunday. Florida is so weird.
Also I had a little snafu with USPS on Saturday. I had 4 packages delivered and I wasn't able to access them! We have that lovely set up of groupings of mail boxes that have larger boxes with locks on them where packages are delivered and little keys are put in our regular mail boxes to open the boxes with packages. Which normally works like a charm...when I don't get a key for a box that has nothing inside of it!! So there is a box full of my packages...that I can't get into! Stupid USPS. Here's hoping I get home today and the mail lady gets my less than pleased note requesting the correct key.
Okay I hope you made it past my little complaint paragraph so you can see the MOST BEAUTIFUL green polish ever.
Seriously....proof is below!
******************************************************
I cannot even tell you how stunning this is in person!
The color is SO lush and dramatic...beautiful.
Oh yeah...and then there's that holo goodness. It's hard to capture but let's just say I almost got in an accident looking at the holo on my nails.
BAM! Number 18...if you're a fan of green or your birthstone is Emerald...or if you love gorgeous polish. Put this on your ISO!
Yep...two macros again because they show the slight variation of green depending on where the light hits. Both of which are lovely.
Coats -
Two Coats. Two thin/medium coats. Fabulous formula as always and easy as pie to work with.
Color Intensity -
Absolutely perfect. This is a top 5 holographic polish because the holo is subtle but spectacular in the light and the base color itself could stand alone.
Top Coat -
Base Coat -
Orly Nailtrition to strengthen and Pretty & Polished Base Coat
Whew! So what do you think?

Better late than never right?
My computer was giving me a fit trying to get this put together. But I have conquered the computer and defeated it! Or at least came to a compromise with it.
I wanted to start the year with lots of color and shine. So I thought...let's bring in a rainbow of finds for the first TIFF of the year!
I won't have any descriptions or anything or opinions on the items below...just sources and pretty photos.
I hope they brighten up your day a little!
Also...I have some announcements this Monday so stay tuned!

Happy New Year everyone!
What did you get up to last night? Are you a low key lady or do you go big for the new year?
I followed my normal protocol and stayed nice and cozy inside the walls of my house! The hubs and I watched Sherlock (I cannot wait for the next season!) while the cats got freaked out by neighbors shooting off fireworks.
I'm not big on recap posts or "what's coming in the new year" posts because I honestly just see the "new year" as another day. It's a new year but I don't plan on making big changes or choices. I'm just going to continue taking life day by day and being thankful that I'm still kicking! I don't want to look back or try to figure out what's to come...PS...my 30th birthday is what's to come. Ahhh!
So on that note...here is just a regular old grainy photo outfit post :-) Oh except there are a few extra photos this go around!

Details below...you know so you can actually see everything!
Whew...that was a lengthy one. Did you make it down to the detail photos? Hopefully because otherwise you couldn't REALLY see the outfit.
Okay I do have one little "resolution" or maybe it's more of a promise to myself...I have to read more this year. I have so many books just patiently waiting for me to dive into them.
