Things I Fancy Friday - The Relaxation Edition

Man oh man...I don't know about you but I need some help winding down and getting out of my own "head"...does that make sense?

It's funny that just a little bump in the road can send you into a tail spin for an entire day...week...month...

Has that happened to you recently? When you feel so wound up and stressed that you just have GOT to find something to take it down a notch?

I can't promise any of my "finds" will help you but I'm hoping they'll at least help me (in the words of the great Nat King Cole) "straighten up and fly right" at least in regards to my brain!

So please...do yourself a favor...sit back and relax and breathe.

And lastly...

Let's take a note from this little guy...I don't think he could get more laid back!

Until next time...

Julep - Karmen and Catrina Review - September Box

Hey ladies!!

So today marks my FIRST official polish review! I'm probably more excited about this than you are but humor will won't ya??

How many of you are Julep Mavens?

For those of you who are...did you upgrade?? I've only upgraded twice in my year of being a maven and this was my second time feeling compelled to pay the extra for the whole set! It just screamed fall to me...and it being 100 degrees still in Florida I am searching desperately for fall...anywhere!!

*******************************************

So today the two polishes from the September (The Cityscape Collection) box I have are Karmen (golden crimson microglitter) and Catrina (marigold yellow creme) -

Lots of gold shimmer in this! It's gorgeous!

I'm loving this yellow because it really doesn't scream neon to me which yellow has a tendency to do...I really would describe it as a marigold yellow just like Julep does. Also it has a blue undertone which warms it up.

Shimmy Shimmy!

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about these beauties, well Catrina was a little streaky but nothing a top coat didn't fix. Cremes can be tricky like that! So if you were on the fence about Karmen or Catrina I hope this helped!

*******************************************

There it is! I figured starting my reviews with Julep makes sense since Julep was really the gateway to my polish hobby.

If you stopped by to read this...thank you.

I know there are a ton of polish blogs around with much better photos and reviews than mine are. So if you enjoyed this and took the time to give it a look I really appreciate it!

***please note there are referral links for Julep - if you're new to Julep and sign up through my link I will get fancy schmancy points***

I Have to Share Before They're Gone! - Chelsea Crew and B.A.I.T sale! (and many other brands!)

Hey ladies!

I wasn't going to post anything until tomorrow BUT then it hit me...

Zulily started their Blow Out sale Monday and SHOES was a big section!

Now this is where I normally get my shoes because Chelsea Crew and B.A.I.T are my fave brands but they are always way to expensive for me to buy retail or even on sale.

I'm not sure what's left because like I said it started Monday but there are a ton of Chelsea Crew and B.A.I.T shoes with deep discounts! Seriously.

Here is the link right to the shoe sale and in case you're curious...these are the ones I bought!

************************************************

I had to limit myself...partially because I own most of the Chelsea Crew ones! Here are a couple Chelsea Crew pairs that are for sale that are hard to pass up!

I should apologize in advance if you do check this sale out...I almost guarantee you won't find something you like...be prepared to sit for awhile and peruse because there are a LOT of pages! Totally worth the hunt!

Again here is the direct link to the sale!

**please note the direct sale link and the zulily link are referral code links! The links to the specific shoes are not referral links**

Things I Fancy Friday - Duck Duck Duck, Mortal Instruments, and then some

Can you believe it?

A full "week" of posts! I'm getting a hang of this blogging thing again. I suppose it's like riding the proverbial bike.

What are your plans this weekend?
I have a much needed hair appointment...brown roots on top of black hair...not cute.

Pet sitting for some kittens also. If you remember (though if you did I would be amazed) I posted about Bella and Griffin way back when here and fast forward 2 years and I'm still the pet sitter of choice. Woo woo!

Okay - blah blah blah - time for the finds I fancy for the week!

*************************************************************

(Hot Topic has a big sale right now on MI merch!)

***********************************************

I cannot WAIT for The Vampire Diaries to start this October!! I have missed it so much...and The Originals will be premiering too!

***********************************************

This pretty kitty Venus. Though Venus isn't a new topic of interest around the net...she is so gorgeous and unique! Chimera or not chimera...she is quite the looker! And check out that blue eye! So rare for a tortie or any cat that isn't white or a Siamese!

***********************************************

This isn't restricted to just Friday..
Elevation Polish is one of my fave indie polish brands!

***********************************************

Everything and anything Duck Dynasty! I used to think how silly people were for loving this show...then I watched it...and I totally get it now.

***********************************************

This stuff...is amazing. I bought it on a whim from Ulta and now I don't think I could live without it. It's hard to explain how it feels and why it's so amazing....so that makes me the least helpful person ever.

So with ALL of that being said...I leave you with these wise "words" from Phil.

See ya next week!

Random Wednesday - Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review

Good morning ladies!

I want to preface this post with...please forgive the poor quality photos. They were taken during my "getting ready" process so the light is awful in the bathroom and I was using my cell phone (amature move I know) rather than an actual camera.

Nonetheless, I still think I got the point across, hopefully!

No mascara

Application - Very different but not bad - You just have to get used to using a wand veritcal rather than horizontal.

After

Left - Mascara / Right - No mascara

After

After

SUPER after when I'm no longer wearing a night gown and wet hair. Also forgive my "mall bangs" I just couldn't get them NOT poofy today! Blarg.

*****************************************

In conclusion....

I think this mascara, while odd looking, works great.

It takes some (but not much) getting used to holding the "paint brush" like wand but I think you have more control over where you are placing the wand more so than when you use a basic mascara.

And...let's face it...the wand looks pretty nifty. Oh and it'll only set you back 10 bucks so I'd say it's worth it.

Will you try Avon Mega Effects? Or have you already? What do you think?

See ya Friday!
