Random Wednesday #11 - Antiques, cats (again!), and records!
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
So I feel like every day could be considered random for me.
I swear I try to plan my day and then a pebble of some varying shape and size gets thrown in the spokes and my day goes all wonky.
But alas, I will try to keep some order in my world and make Wendesday the only "official" day of random!
I mentioned on Monday that I'd share what the other 25% of my weekend consisted of today so here it is!
Fun at the antique village!
Man oh man...I spent 2 hours at the Bayard Antique Village last Saturday...and I'm so glad I took my time to really dig into the stuff!
The first photo is of the BOX full of goodies. Yep, they gave me a box, a large part of the village is a giant "barn" that is full of odds and ends. Plus on the outside there are little "cottages" that have specific items like all Christmas items or all shabby chic goodies.
The box has a vintage (union made!) blueberry velvet blazer. Sadly it's not my size so that'll be in the shop eventually. A handful of records. A cute vintage planter. The rest of the items are in the single photos.
I managed to find the PERFECT odds and ends for the much needed coffee table decor. (See third photo) That adorable little bumble bee item is a vintage sugar jar!
Do you have a large outdoors antique mall in your neighborhood? If not...you should come to Jacksonville so we can go to the Bayard Antique mall and shop!! : )
Other random photos -
I'm participating in the photo a day this month! Yaaay! I'll be on twitter and instagram...are you participating?
That's me...in my pj's...that's Trixie ON my pj's.
My Charlie girl eyeing my records that I had just brought home. A box of records for 15 bucks...AND there were a pretty large amount of really good records!
Speaking of records...have you seen this beauty? It's an REO Speedwagon record. Now it is decoration. Come on!! Look at the cool cats!
That's it! That's enough randomness for this week anyway :p
Oh! Did you see my shopping guide? I have to try not to look at it...it makes me want to shop!!
What I Wore - *Lovin' Red* (and a peek at my thrifting scores!)

Hey everyone!!
Before I forget I'm on instagram now!! I got myself a very cheap 3G iPhone and I'm finally getting used to it. I'm SewSavoirFaire on instagram!
I took advantage of my other half being off on Sunday and we went out and about on a little thrifting adventure. (He loathes it...but puts up with it because I love it.)
I also listed a couple items in the shop, one being the ascot dress I mentioned on Friday, I have to hold off listing too many things at once!
So before I get to the outfit photos I wanted to share all the fabulous clothing items while we were out thrift shopping.
Skirts GALORE!! The lady at the counter was like - "So you're not afraid of color are you" - Duh! 4 skirts, 2 dresses, and that AMAZING crocheted cardigan that still had the tags & I got it for 5 bucks!!
I swooned for real when I found this vintage nightgown. It screams Sandra Dee <3 I just wonder if I should keep it or list it! I may just keep it hanging in the window because it's soooo pretty!
Okay, now to share the actual outfit post!
This is one of my favorite dresses from Eshakti it was actually on one of my past Friday Finds I eventually made it mine! The hearts are so fun and a red and black color combo is always fun. I had forgotten about this set of photos (they were only taken about 2 weeks ago) until I was making my new banner! This one almost slipped through the cracks.
Wears Head to Toe -
Cardigan - Target (I've had it for years!)
Glasses - ZenniOptical
Dress - EShakti (the bow is part of the dress not a belt!)
Shoes - DSW - gift from my mama
*Make sure to stop by tomorrow to see the NON-clothing thrift finds from the weekend AND if you were ever curious what my closet looks like...I'll be posting photos of it tomorrow...because it will give me a reason to get it organized : )*
If you have an instagram let me know what it is so I can follow!
Talk to you soon!
Random Wednesday #8 - Thrifting Scores, Kitties, and Clothes!
Wednesday, January 11, 2012
Howdy folks! (I went country on you there for a sec...I do live in Florida after all)
How has your week been treating you? Mine has been crazy! I've been an emotional roller coaster this week.
I've also been trying to track down an affordable cheap unlocked iPhone because my phone now is about to crap out on me and the cost to upgrade is CRAZY! I thought I had one ready to pick up here in Jacksonville, I ordered a case and charger, then that fell through. Booooo! So I'm on the hunt again.
But I have managed to take a ton of photos this past week.
It's Random Photo Time! -
(*disclaimer - the quality of these photos are awful due to the fact they are from my cellphone)
This is Trixie and this is Trixie thinking that it's a great idea to climb on my back when I was at my desk. Scale, climb, whatever painful word you could put there seeing as she has nails that need trimming!
This is Trixie and Penelope and my heart just melted when I woke up for work Monday morning to very warm legs. I grabbed my phone and blinded myself since it was dark and the flash is seriously bright...but I aimed it correctly because these were the furry felines keeping me warm. They're sleeping between my leg and my other half's leg.
This is me, yesterday, at work. I was so upset that I wasn't able to get photos of this outfit. If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen this but I was kinda obsessed with wearing blue yesterday. You can't see my shoes but they were even speckled with some blue flowers.
My other half and I went out looking for a place to have dinner and we stumbled across a store ever so simply named - The Thrift Shoppe - they closed in 15 minutes but I ran through just to see what I could find. Well...I found this beauty!! Three World Traveler suitcases circa 1970!!! Can you see the little price tag?? 10 bucks people!! I may or may not sell them in the shop, I will more than likely keep them all for myself, because I'm that greedy : )
Lastly, the worst quality photo of them all, this Griffin. The giant house cat. He is one of the two cats that I pet sit for on a regular basis. His sister is Bella but she isn't in this photo...obviously. Griffin is amazing. He's huge, heavy, diabetic (I have to give him shots of insulin before I feed him), and the SWEETEST cat you could ever meet. I love him <3
Geez...almost ALL of these photos have cats in them! I think I need a support group for Crazy Cat Ladies.
Oh and I made a new banner, my old one had photos of me with black hair, so I thought I could at least update it with some current photos and course some pictures of kittens.
Any random happenings in your neck of the woods this past week?
Stop by tomorrow for the 2nd Edition of Love/Hate Thursdays!!
Not gonna lie....
Sunday, October 2, 2011
My other half and I picked up the CUTEST picture ever yesterday when out and about running errands and I had to share.
The best part? My other half loves it too!
<3 <3 <3
Even better...it's the first piece of artwork that'll be hung in the bedroom...I am in love with all the colors. I had to take the photo with my cellphone so the colors are super dull in comparison to how they really look. It's very vibrant and bright.
Have you found any "I can't leave the store without this" items over the weekend?
Talk to you soon!
It 'Twas Time for a Hair Update and an Antiquing Find!
Sunday, September 18, 2011
Hey everyone!
How was your weekend?
As most of you probably know by now...I am going red. No more black for me. It's been a fun 3 years with black hair but I'm ready to finally have the red that I've ALWAYS wanted.
Unfortunately....it's a MUCH longer process going red from black than I had anticipated.
I have a lot of hair. So my stylist says in order to lift the color evenly it needs to be done a little at a time because I'd be sitting with bleach on my hair for hours and hours if she tried to lift it all at once. Heck with what seemed like 100 foils on my head I was under the dryer for 45 minutes and it only lifted to a gold hue...and not evenly at all. The front of my hair was good to go...not so much the back of my hair.
Long story a little less long...this whole process is going to take about 6 months!! Little by little I'll go red. She's also trying to to shock the hell out of my hair and damage it TOO much.
So after the FIRST of many appointments this is the result -
(This is day two of the cut/color so my hair isn't too clean!)
It's lighter for sure and you can see the red in the light but man this is going to take awhile!
PS - Did you see the necklace? I LOVE it...I found it today while antiquing with my other half. It's embroidered...so fabulous!
Talk to you soon!
(Stop by tomorrow for the final installment of the Tour of Homes!
What I Wore - *Date Night - Hot Pink Flowers*
Monday, September 5, 2011
Hello Lovelies! Finally a non-work outfit!
I looove this dress. It's a tad short for my taste but with the tried and true tights it doesn't feel SO short. Plus I pair it with flats for the most part which also helps with the length.
Ooooh...I love these earrings...I wear them at least once a week when I need a subtle earring but still with some color in it.
Please don't let my roots distract from the oh so lovely bright flowers on the dress! 2 more weeks until my hair appointment!
Scrunch face!
Wears from Head to Toe -
Dress - Target
Crocheted Vest - Francescas Collections
Earrings - World Market
Tights - Happy Socks
Belt - Thrifted
Shoes - Even though you can't really see them they are from DSW
Our date night consisted of dinner and a movie, we saw Captain America, which wasn't AS good as I thought it would be but still worth seeing!
Have you seen any good movies lately?
The Weekend Happenings so Far and a New Banner too!!
Sunday, July 31, 2011
Hello lovelies! How is your weekend shaping up?
It's been a busy one for me!
Let's recap.
Saturday -
*Early morning wake up and decision to venture out in our "I just woke up" best to have breakfast and Denny's. I had the most delicious pancakes...Hawaiian Pancakes made with macadamia nuts, pineapples, and coconut! Yum!
*Then we went for a short Goodwill Hunting (hehe, I can't help but call it that) where as I mentioned yesterday I found the most fabulous camera for 10 bucks! Once I get the replacement batteries via ebay next week I can't wait to try this baby out!
*Later in the day my lovely friend Sonia and I went shopping for an outing she was attending later in the evening. I served as her fashion consultant during the shopping trip.
*I was thrilled when I checked my mail and I received my dress trifecta that I purchased from the lovely Andrea at Paper Sparrow. Hopefully I'll be able to take some photos of the fabulous dresses soon!
*Once my other half got home from work we went to Walmart where I was scouting some aesthetically pleasing closet storage for my shoes in my soon to be new home and I found this amazingly affordable ($12.48) bookshelf that will be a wonderful home for my shoes! At that price I bought two!
*Finally to finish up my Saturday I decided to finally work on creating a new banner and I am super excited about how it turned out! What do you think of the final product?
Whew! I'm hoping for a far more relaxing day today...though not likely!
How was your Saturday? Super busy or a relaxing one?

PS - I found the most amazingly gorgeous camera today while doing a mini-thrifting jaunt with my other half. A oh so fabulous Minolta Hi-Matic E (for 10 bucks!) Now I just have to find a compatible battery for it...time for a hunt!
I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!
Giveaway Winnings and Thrifting Finds!
Sunday, July 24, 2011
It's Sunday...already? How the heck did that happen so fast? Maybe it was the busy Saturday...I got my hair all prettied up again (growing out my bangs is SUCH a pain!), spent the afternoon shopping for thrifty finds, and then my other half and I finally went to see Harry Potter! Man I love movie popcorn...it's always such a treat...a insanely expensive bag of popcorn that is.
Anywho, I wanted to share my fun and fabulous finds from Saturday! All for a whopping $20! I tried to consolidate them all into one photo but I left out the skirt that I got...mostly because I had it in my closet already and forgot to bring it out when I took the photos.
| My fave find is Ruby...she is just the cutest little duck I've ever see! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
I was so lucky to win a couple of giveaways recently and I just had to share with you guys!
First up, from By The Throat, I was so excited when I won this super cute cherry blossom necklace!
